Sports therapy is the use of therapeutic techniques and lifestyle knowledge to improve health and performance. Treatments vary greatly from preventative sports massage routines to help maintain suppleness and improve performance. To the treatment of injured tissue using advanced manual therapies and specific stretches to improve recovery and rehabilitation.
A Sports Therapist is trained to assess common musculo-skeletal problems, and offer treatment for such conditions as whiplash, back pain, Repetitive Strain Injury, frozen shoulder and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, amongst others.
Floyd Robinson is a trainee sports therapist with Active Health Group, as a registered member of the Sports Therapy Organisation he is able to offer treatments whilst completing his qualification at a reduced rate.
Floyd has been a personal trainer at Urban health and Fitness since we opened and so will be using his sports therapy qualification to work closely with people both in treatment rooms and the gym to bridge the gap between therapeutic rehabilitation and active rehabilitation ensuring maximum confidence that full recovery has been made.
After 8 years as a personal trainer his decision to step into sports therapy was inspired through recovery from his own shoulder injury during a sporting accident causing nerve damage. Floyd can really empathise with the frustrations of any injury and will aim to alleviate symptoms immediately whilst communicating an effective forward treatment plan.
